Making the Best of It

Well it's now officially July and the world is still shut down due to Corona Virus nearly 6 months after it broke out. Certain places are opening back up again slowly and we can now start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Doesn't mean it can't happen again. I am sure everyone will have a back up plan in place in case it does this time too. I know I have personally been doing everything I can to stay busy, stay confident and educate my self during these uncertain times. I have been waking up every morning and staring my day with mediation. Really helps with focus. The Peloton or Calm apps have really good guided ones. Then I get a good work out in, usually lead by a fellow artists who are hosting classes online such as @pilateslubov, @hithouse, @jqmitch & @eventfitness. Then I go through every last casting out there such us castingnetworks.com, actorsaccess.com, castingfrontier.com, backstage.com & nycastings.com to see if there are any projects beginning to shoot again or possibly auditioning now to shoot in the future. Still not much out there but I have not and will not giving up hope! That my friends is why I was able to shoot a commerical again last week after having no work for 3 months. Was such a thrill to be back on set. But then it's back to square one again as usually though. I have been taking my lunch breaks in the park. Found so many wonderful hiking and bike trails around Bayside Queens. So good to get out doors, get fresh air and be one with nature. Had the pleasure of seeing so many baby animals grow over time while visiting them every day. I make sure I go right back to work when I get in though. (Even though I am not being paid, I still need to keep those tools sharp) So I continue my day with practicing Spanish on Rosetta Stone. Always said I would be on Telemundo by now if I spoke Spanish a little better. Why not take the time to work on another language. Will give you a one up on everyone else who doesn't once those opportunities come back around! Working on my writing skills as well, in fact I wrote my very first screen play during the pandemic. Always wanted to write my own work, never knew where to start though. With my new found time I read through many plays to learn how to format properly. Watched endless Master Classes with Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee and Jodi Foster to learn from the best of the best. And got to work. I even hosted a live reading of 2nd Chance of Life once it was done. Felt so good to call up actor friends of mine and have an offer for them. I even kept going after that was over and started writing a book about how to get started in performing arts. I have also been reading many books about the business of show business such as the Theatrical Juggernaut by Monroe Mann that have been very inspiring. I write in my covid journal every day so I can look back 20 years from now say wow, I if was able to survive that, then I am certainly able to survive anything! And last but not least I am enjoying Mel Robbins' Best Decade Ever online workshop that has you write out your 10 year plan every day. My top 3 goals are for my screen play to take off, become a full time, well known, working actor, who can then use my platform to help others out around the world. I just know I am manifesting my own work for the very near future. Something great will come out of this dark time. Waiting for that cloud to pass. Once we hit phase 4 and receive the green light to open back up the entertainment industry again I imagine I will be busier then ever, and you will too! I'm here for you. Let's get through this together!
