Staying Strong Through This Pandemic

This Pandemic has got to by far be the most troubling time of my freelance career. All booking were slowly wiped from my calendar one by one until further notice. I no longer have any income what so ever coming in until society is safe is again. I know everyone is going through this together. However most are fortunate enough to have a full time career that they can work from home and collect a salary while all this is going on. Or at least a part time career that they can be let go from and collect unemployment. As an independent contractor you do not have those privileges. We only earn a living when people hire us to perform the services we have to offer and fulfill the contract. If contracts are canceled and can not be fulfilled then we have no choice than to live off of the very little savings that we may have at that time. They say the average person lives pay check to pay check, but in this industry you never even know when your next paycheck will be. With the cost of living these days how can you even afford to put some away for a rainy day? I know it doesn't seem so scary on the out side since we live these fabulous glamours lives to the public eyes. When it all gets taking away real quickly it makes a huge difference. Makes you rethink your career choice real quick. Unfortunately we can not even look into applying any where else at this time. We just have to ride it out, hope that it will all come back in big waves. Meanwhile I am going to take this time to learn new skills on line in order to be ready to take on anything that the near future may bring. Don't get me wrong, we love what we do, that's why we have choose to live this life style for so long. It's extremely satisfying being able to entertain others with your talents and make a living in the arts because you are great at what you do and wouldn't have it any other way. Just wish there was more support, finical programs, compassion and understanding for actors, singers, dancers, models and all entertainers. I don't think the world realizes just how devastating this can be for a starving artist. I pray that world heals fast, and this too shall pass!
